What Prep and Chef is

Prep and Chef is a recipe manager: it lets you save recipes from links, photos, social media, or your own typing; organize them; plan meals; build shopping lists; and sync everything across your devices. A free plan includes up to 10 saved recipes plus meal planning, shopping lists, and sync; an optional Premium subscription removes the save limit and adds nutrition insights, printing, and PDF export. By using the website, the iOS app, or the web client at prepandchef.com/app, you accept these terms.

Your account

• Eligibility: you must be 18 or older to create an account. Creating an account confirms this and confirms you accept these terms and our privacy policy.
• Sign-in security: accounts are passwordless — you sign in with Apple, Google, or a link and code we email you. Keep access to your sign-in email secure; you're responsible for activity on your account.
• Accuracy: sign up with an email address you control. If you use Apple's Hide My Email, keep the relay active so we can reach you.
• Deletion: you can delete your account and content from within the app at any time — see the account deletion page.

Your content

• Your recipes stay yours. Recipes, meal plans, shopping lists, notes, and photos you save remain your property. You grant us only the limited license needed to store, process, and sync them for you — including sending recipe content to our AI providers to parse it, as described in the privacy policy. That license ends when you delete the content or your account.
• Sharing: if you share a recipe with someone else, you're responsible for having the right to share it, and the recipient may view the content you shared.

Imported content

Recipes you import from websites and social platforms remain the property of their original publishers and creators. Importing a recipe into your Prep and Chef library is for your personal, non-commercial use — it is not a license to republish someone else's work. We respect publisher restrictions in how the import pipeline fetches and handles source content, and we honor takedown requests from rights holders; imported content may be adjusted or removed as a result. Where a recipe has a source, the app keeps the attribution with it.

Acceptable use

Don't use Prep and Chef to:

• do anything unlawful, or infringe anyone's rights;
• interfere with the service — probing, scraping at scale, overloading, or circumventing rate limits, the free plan's save limit, or subscription gating;
• abuse the import or AI features — for example, submitting content intended to disrupt processing or bulk-harvesting third-party sites through our pipeline;
• misrepresent your association with us; or
• access another person's account.

We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms. Where reasonable, we'll warn you first.

Subscriptions and billing

• What's offered: Premium is an auto-renewing subscription. It is the annual plan (NZ$59.99/year), which can start with either a 7-day free trial or a NZ$1.99 first month. These introductory offers are available to eligible subscribers only, as determined by Apple (generally, subscribers who have not previously used an introductory offer for this subscription); if you are not eligible, the annual price applies. Prices outside New Zealand follow Apple's local pricing tiers; the exact price in your currency is shown in the app before you confirm.
• Auto-renewal: subscriptions renew automatically — including at the end of a free trial or intro month — unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Payment is charged to your Apple account.
• Cancel anytime: manage or cancel in your device settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions). You keep Premium until the end of the paid period. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel a subscription. Step-by-step instructions are on the help page.
• Apple's EULA governs the purchase: the app is licensed to you under Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, and purchases, billing, and refunds are handled by Apple under its terms. Refund requests go through Apple.
• Price changes: if a subscription price changes, Apple notifies you and, where required, asks you to agree before you're charged the new price.

Everything on this site and in the app — recipe analysis, nutrition estimates, cooking guides, conversion tools — is general information, not professional advice. It is not nutritional, dietary, medical, or food-safety advice for your specific situation. Nutrition insights are estimates generated from recipe text and can be wrong. If you have allergies, dietary restrictions, or health conditions, check labels and talk to a qualified professional.

Food safety

Food-safety figures on this site (temperatures, times, storage) are sourced from authoritative references such as USDA/FSIS, as described in our editorial policy. But conditions in your kitchen are yours: always verify food safety yourself — use a thermometer, check current official guidance, and use your judgment. We are not responsible for outcomes of cooking decisions you make.

No warranty

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". We work hard on accuracy (see our methodology), but we make no warranty, express or implied, that content is complete, current, or error-free, that AI-parsed recipes are accurate, or that the service will be uninterrupted. Keep copies of anything you can't afford to lose.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Prep and Chef and its team are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss or damage arising from your use of the service or reliance on its content. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the previous 12 months or NZ$50. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or other non-excludable law.

Intellectual property

• Our content is ours. The analysis, guides, tools, text, app, and design belong to Prep and Chef. You may not republish or scrape them at scale without permission.
• Source recipes belong to their owners. The recipes we analyze and the recipes you import are the property of their publishers and authors (see "Imported content" above). Images on this site appear only under our image permissions policy.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms; changes take effect when posted here, with the date above updated. For material changes affecting the app, we'll tell you in the app before or when they take effect. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and the New Zealand courts have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from them.
